One of around 6,500 Second Models manufactured in 1873-1879 by Henry Deringer's relatives at the Deringer Rifle & Pistol Works in Philadelphia. The barrel, cylinder, and frame have high quality extensive scroll engraving along with some other accents. The left grip has a raised relief carved wolf head and grape branch motif. The barrel is marked "DERINGER PHILADA." The barrel and cylinder were silver plated, and the frame and some of the small parts were gold plated.

Fine with 20% plus original silver plating remaining mainly on the barrel, traces of original gold plating in some protected areas, aged patina on the balance of the frame, crisp engraving, some mild pitting mainly on the on the cylinder, and mild overall wear. The grips are very fine and have crisp raised relief carving, attractive iridescent colors, and mild handling wear. Mechanically fine. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
