Description:

Made in the late 19th to very early 20th century, this attractive cane would certainly find a welcome place in the hand of any English gentleman of the time. The L-shaped handle is masterfully carved in the shape of a snarling bulldog, a symbol often adopted by the English, due to their resoluteness. The dogs head has areas with lightly applied brown enamel imitating spots in the fur, glass bead eyes, and a brass harness/muzzle. The shaft is varnished wood with a dark horn ferrule to protect the tip from deformation.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall, the grip showing some attractive age darkening and crisp carving. There are a few scattered minor spots of flaking on the shaft, which otherwise retains most of the high gloss varnish. A very fine piece to add a touch of class to your evening walk!
