Description:

This incredibly interesting cane is the epitome of 19th century concealed carry amongst the gentry of Europe and the Americas. Concealed weapons such as these became incredibly popular during this period due to rises in crime and also just as curiosities. Though cane guns and sword canes were both popular during the period, this example is certainly atypical by combining both, the shaft concealing a combined six-chamber pepperbox revolver and triangular blade spike dagger. The grip portion shows a beautifully high relief carved bust of a 18th-19th century gentleman in period attire including a bicorn hat. The shaft is an iron tube sheathed in hardwood with a contrasting end cap that matches the grip. The dagger blade is 4 1/2 inches long and the overall length is 37 inches. The chambers of the revolver measure at approximately .32.

Rating Definition:

Fine, the grip showing numerous hairline age related stress lines throughout and some mild age darkening creating an attractive aged look overall with a minor repair at each corner of the hat. The revarnished wood shows a few repairs and cracks but otherwise generally mild wear. The revolver and knife show an attractive antique patina overall. The action of the revolver does not currently function.
