Manufactured in 1886 with standard markings and features along with various British proofs on the left of the barrel and one on the receiver. The factory letter lists it in its current configuration (caliber, barrel length, wood, and finish) in a shipment of 10 guns of this type to E.F. Bodwell on April 16, 1886. Bodwell is noted as a Colt employee at the time. R.L. Wilson lists him as working as a bookkeeper and in other capacities for the company in "The Book of Colt Engraving" on page 245.
Very fine with 70% plus original blue finish, most of the loss on the frame where it exhibits a smooth brown patina, some slight spotting, crisp checkering and markings and general minor marks and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
