Description:

The Model 1849 Pocket was one of the most successful of all 19th century revolvers. In fact, it was the most successful Colt firearm of the century in terms of the total manufactured with around 340,000 produced in 1850-1873 . This revolver was manufactured in 1861 with the New York barrel address and standard markings, including matching serial numbers throughout. Many of the Civil War era '49 Pockets were carried as private sidearms during the war. The longer barrel case is a unusual fitted pattern and also contains a double sided eagle and floral pattern powder flask, cap tin, key, L-shaped combination tool, and a cartridge pack.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 60% of the original blue finish on the barrel, 85% plus of the bright original case colors remaining, strong traces original blue on the cylinder which has a distinct scene and mostly solid safety pins, 50% original silver plating on the grip frame displaying aged patina, mix of gray and brown patina on the balance of the steel, general mild wear particularly at the edges, flaw in the metal on the left side of the frame, and slight oxidation. The grip is near very fine and retains the majority of the varnish and has some scratches and dings and mild edge wear. Mechanically fine. The upper lid latch is broken, but the case is otherwise very good and have mild age and storage related wear. The accessories are good.
