Documented U.S. Artillery Model Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter

The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver as originally delivered to the U.S. Government inspector at the Colt plant on November 6, 1884, and later returned to the factory for refurbishing and reshipped to the commanding officer, Springfield Armory on May 18, 1903. The revolver has mixed numbers and components typical of the Artillery variants. The frame dates to 1884, was inspected by David F. Clark, and has the three-line patent marking followed by "US" on the left side. Other inspector markings include "DFC" and "P" on the cylinder, "RAC" on the barrel, "RAC" on the bottom of the grip, and "1903" over a script letter cartouche on the right side of the grip.

ConditionFine as Colt factory refurbished for the U.S. Government. The revolver retains 40% of the blue finish and 30% of the case colors in the protected areas with the balance a smooth gray patina. The grip is fine with faint but clearly legible cartouche. Mechanically fine.
