Introduced in 1878. Target sights, one-line barrel rib address, and matching serial numbers on the butt, right grip panel (in pencil), cylinder, barrel and barrel latch. The French retailer oak case has the A. Guinard of Paris marking in gold on the interior of the lid and an inscription plaque with the initials "FJC" on the exterior of the lid. The case contains a rare full set of S&W factory .44 Russian reloading tools, including a double cavity (round, conical) bullet model, mallet, powder measure and other reloading accessories, bore rod with two attachable heads and case key.

Excellent, retaining 95% original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. Nearly all original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard. The grips are minimal handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically fine. The case is fine with minor handling/storage marks, some high spot wear on the lining and most of the retailer label remaining. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
