Description:

This revolver was manufactured c. 1864-1865 and has scroll engraving with textured backgrounds, etched martial and floral designs on the cylinder, and a silver plated finish. The serial number is on the butt, and the ".0" assembly markings are on the barrel, cylinder, and heel. The other markings are standard. The No. 2 is known to have been popular with Union officers during the Civil War (Custer owned a pair), and this revolver certainly would have been an excellent presentation piece.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 50% original silver plating primarily concentrated on the barrel, mostly smooth gray patina on the balance, generally crisp engraving, some oxidation and pitting at the breech, and mild overall wear. The grips are also fine and have attractive natural tones, some chips at the inner edge of the right panel, and minor overall wear. Mechanically fine.
