Sharps Model 1853 "Slant Breech" Percussion Carbine Shotgun Conversion

Manufactured in 1856-1857, this carbine was subsequently converted to the Model 1853 shotgun, most of which were 26 bore like this example. Single nickel steel bead sight on the unmarked barrel and standard Sharp's markings on the frame. Matching serial numbers stamped on the upper tang as well as on the bottom of the barrel, rear of the forearm, inside the patch box, and inside the buttplate.

ConditionFine, retains 40% plus blue finish fading slightly to a plum-brown patina, traces of the original case colors in sheltered areas, and almost all of the nickel plating on the buttplate and patch box with the balance a smooth grey patina. The wood is also fine with some minor dings and scratches scattered throughout, a couple minor chips in the toe, and a crack from the forearm screw to the frame. Mechanically fine.
