This classic western image is titled "Saddling The Wild Horse, First pull at the latigo." on the bottom followed by "The Huffman Pictures" copyright line. It measures 7 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches in a 13 3/4 by 16 1/8 inch frame and shows a man saddling a wild horse in Montana. There are rolling hills in the background. The Montana Historical Society's black and white version of the photograph is a broader image and is listed as " Saddling the Wild Horse, Andy Speelman, Ekalaka," and was taken on July 4, 1894, by well-known frontier photographer Laton Alton Huffman (1854-1931). Some of the colored prints have a 1907 copyright (this one is undated) suggesting the year he created the tinted prints.
Very good with minor wear mainly on the frame and a distinct image with nice color. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
