Description:

Laton Alton Huffman (1854-1931) is one of the few photographers to actually capture cowboys at work in Montana in the late 19th century. It has been dated elsewhere to 1885. Huffman hand-tinted many of his earlier photographs in the 1920s. This colorized print shows a large number of cattle on the plains and has the title and the "L.A. Huffman Miles City" signature/copyright line along the bottom. It measures 7 1/2 by 20 1/2 inches.

Rating Definition:

Very good with distinct image, nice color, some tape on the back at the corners from prior mounting, and slight age and storage related wear. An excellent western image to display with your cowboy collectibles. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
