Manufactured c. 1867-1875. The smoothbore damascus barrels are signed "JOHN BLISSETT & SON, 322, HIGH HOLBORN LONDON" and have fixed silver blade front sights. The serial numbers on the bottom of the barrels are partially obscured but start with "123" with a fourth digit not legible but possible a "3" or "5." The London view mark is partially stamped over the numbers. The standing breeches have dovetailed notch rear sights. The locks are signed "JOHN BLISSETT & SON" and have sliding safeties. The blued trigger guards are spurred. The locks and furniture have tight English scroll engraving. The walnut half-stocks have horn forend caps, checkered wrists, and lightly flared pommels. The case has a John Blissett trade label, purple lining, tow, a cap tin, rods, "55" marked ball mold, patches, and a few balls.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% plus original finish, slight edge wear, slight fading mainly on the trigger guard, a few spots of discoloration on the muzzle, and general light scratches and marks. The stock is also very fine and has some minor scuffs and dings, smooth oiled finish, crisp checkering, and light handling and storage wear. Mechanically excellent. The case is good with some cracks in the lid, splits and repairs on the dividers, and general mild age and storage related wear. The ball mold is refinished and has some pitting. The other accessories are very good with minor wear.
