Description:

These pistols are from around the 1840s-1850s. The smoothbore twisted steel barrels have post/bead front sights, "- ->->SWINBURN, LONDON<-<- -" on top, London proofs on the lower left, and engraved bands at the breech. There are notch rear sights on the top of the German silver frames/stocks which have extensive interlaced scroll engraving, shield motifs, and blued steel fittings. The caps have trapdoor compartments for storing percussion caps. The ramrods are swivel mounted and have floral blooms on the heads.

Rating Definition:

Fine with bright German silver, 25% original bright blue finish, smooth brown patina where the finish has faded, minor pitting/oxidation, crisp engraving, and distinct markings. Mechanically fine.

Fine with mostly bright German silver, 50% original bright blue finish, smooth gray and brown patina in the fading areas, crisp markings and engraving, dark patina on the other steel components, minor pitting/oxidation, and crisp engraving and markings. Mechanically fine.
