The silver mounts have London hallmarks dating them to 1807 ("M" date codes) and are engraved with primarily burst and floral motifs along with some martial engraving on the trigger guard bows. The smoothbore barrels have dovetailed blade front sights, "-H.W. MORTIMER & SON LONDON.-/-GUN MAKERS. TO HIS MAJESTY-" signed on top flats, the serial number and London proof and view marks on the bottom flats, and floral border engraving at the breeches. The standing breeches have integral notch rear sights and floral and martial themed engraving. The locks are signed "H W Mortimer & Son/FLEET STT" and have floral borders, scroll engraving at the noses and on the hammers, sliding safeties, and martial themed engraving on the tails. The stocks have finely checkered wrists and blank wrist escutcheons. The case has a "MORTIMER & SON,/Gun Makers,/To His Royal Highness/The/PRINCE REGENT,/21 St. James Street/London" trade label inside the lid, tri-compartment flask wrapped in red-Morocco leather, "22" marked ball mold, rod, jag, and rosewood handle screwdriver

Rating Definition:

Very good as restored. The bright polished silver mounts have mostly distinct markings and engraving with the exception of the maker's mark, and there is some dark patina inside the bow. The barrel has aged patina and distinct markings, and the lock has strong case colors and legible markings. The stock has glossy finish, some scattered dings and scrapes, and mostly crisp checkering with mild wear. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine and has some cracks and chips, absent button from the internal lids, and general storage wear. The accessories are also fine with age and storage related wear.
