Description:

According to the included factory letter, this pistol was part of a 1000 piece shipment to the General Storekeeper at the Brooklyn Navy Yard on 30 July 1913. Blade front and round top notch rear sights, the two-line/two-block address and patent dates ahead of the Rampant Colt on the left side of the slide, the early serifed "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. NAVY" nomenclature on the reverse, "H" on the rear above the firing pin stop plate, and a United States Property marked frame with "WGP" (Penfield) inspection mark. Fitted with a long smooth trigger, wide checkered hammer, short grip safety, smooth mainspring housing, unmarked pinned base two-tone magazine with early style "keyhole" spine cut, and a replacement "P H" marked Colt barrel. Included with the pistol is an unmarked collector's brown "kraft" box and a 1961-dated wax impregnated wrapping.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 80% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina concentrated mostly on the top and forward portion of the slide, bright edge wear, some light scratches concentrated on the frame, and mild handling marks overall. The slide, though correct for the frame, is slightly more faded. The grips are also very fine, with a few light dings and scratches. The box is good, with traces of a now absent label and mild staining. Mechanically excellent.
