Description:

Offered here is one of only 25 of the K-22 Outdoorsman revolver model with fixed service sights that S&W shipped to the U. S. Coast Guard at Curtis Bay, Maryland, in 1935, making them one of the rarest U.S. martial handguns extant. As documented in Supica and Nahas' "The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson," these 25 handguns are in the 650929-650953 serial number range. This revolver is no. 650946. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 6 inch barrel, fixed sights and blue finish when shipped on February 12, 1935 and delivered to the U.S. Coast Guard, Curtis Bay, Maryland. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder and barrel.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 80% original blue finish with thinning to brown and smooth gray patina on the balance. Nearly all original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are very good with some minor handling marks and some wear in the checkering. Mechanically excellent. As one of only 25 U.S. Coast Guard shipped Model K-22 Outdoorsmans, this extreme S&W rarity is missing from even the most advanced private or public U.S. military collections. It will be a long time before you see another, so don't let this opportunity pass you by!
