Description:

Manufactured in 1912. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration with grips, as standard, not listed when shipped to the United States Government Commanding Officer at Springfield Armory on 9 October 1912, in a shipment of 250 pistols. The left side of the slide is marked with the two-line/two-block address and patent dates with the circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations, the Army nomenclature on the reverse, and a United States Property marked frame with "WGP" (Penfield) inspection mark on the left side. Fitted with blade and notch sights, a long smooth trigger, checkered magazine release, wide checkered hammer, short grip safety, smooth mainspring housing, diamond pattern checkered grips, a two-tone magazine with lanyard loop base, and a "PH" marked later production replacement barrel.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 90% original high polish blue finish with the balance having thinned slightly to reveal a smooth grey patina, primarily on the grip straps due to handling, and a light takedown mark. The rear mainspring housing is a refinished replacement. The grips are very fine with a few scattered minor blemishes in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
