Manufactured in 1916, this rifle was later released from government stores for private sale via the Director of Civilian Marksmanship; these rifles received the distinctive "(bomb)/N.R.A." stamp on the front to distinguish them from the arms still in the military inventory . Blade front and folding ladder rear sights (with volley notch), with a "SA/4-16" barrel and a casehardened receiver. The smooth straight wrist stock with "J.S.A." on the left side, circled script "P" on the underside of the wrist, brown leather sling, and a sharply checkered buttplate. A cylindrical cleaning kit is stored in the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 75% of the original blue finish, showing strong color on the barrel and areas of brown patina. The receiver shows deep, dark case colors. The stock is very fine, with mild dings and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
