This 15 by 20 inch print is mostly sepia tone but has some hand tinting on the main cowboy's face and the cattle. It is marked with "Bringing a calf to the branding fire," and the "La Huffman Miles City Montana." copyright line along the bottom. The back is unmarked. It is not framed but is mounted to a poster board with corner pieces. Laton Alton Huffman (1854-1931) likely took this photograph in the mid-1880s while documenting round-ups and is known to have made contact prints of those photographs around 1905-1906.
Good with a small tear in the upper right corner and mild age and storage related wear. Shows signs of a prior mounting on the corners and back. An excellent western image. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
