Description:

Manufactured in 1910 as a desirable paneled coil spring takedown High Wall "Winder Musket" with second generation features: single barrel band and contoured forearm with finger grooves. The barrel has an elevated blade front sight and lacks provisions for a rear sight. There are also standard Winchester markings including the factory oval proofs, Lyman No. 41 receiver peep sight (note the factory proof on the receiver is offset to accommodate the sight), steel forend cap, and sling swivels. A similar musket to this example is pictured in John Campbell's "The Winchester Single-Shot" on page 154. Campbell explains in the photo caption, that it is the only high wall takedown musket the author had seen fitted with a Lyman No. 41 type sight.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 60% of the original blue finish with the balance mostly a smooth grey-brown patina, primarily on the forend cap, receiver, and buttplate. There is an absent screw-in peep insert. The wood is very fine with some scattered light dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
