Manufactured between 1873 and 1888. Remington Rolling Block rifles were popular around the world, including in the American West where they were popular with buffalo hunters. Features a post/globe combination front sight, "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION, N.Y." on top ahead of the notch, folding ladder rear (minus elevator), and long range tang peep sight, single trigger, "40" on the bottom of the barrel ahead of the forearm, "ES PG." on the bottom of the barrel, patent markings on the left side of the frame, "5390" on the lower tang, bottom of the barrel, rear face of forearm, and on the checkered pistol grip buttstock.
