Manufactured between 1873 and 1888. Remington Rolling Block rifles were popular around the world, including in the American West where they were popular with buffalo hunters. Features a post/globe combination front sight, "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION, N.Y." on top ahead of the notch, folding ladder rear (minus elevator), and long range tang peep sight, single trigger, "40" on the bottom of the barrel ahead of the forearm, "ES PG." on the bottom of the barrel, patent markings on the left side of the frame, "5390" on the lower tang, bottom of the barrel, rear face of forearm, and on the checkered pistol grip buttstock. Very fine, retaining 85% original blue finish and 80% case colors with some handling marks and minor fading on the barrel. Wood is also very fine with two dings visible on top comb (from lowering the tang sight), and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent.
