Description:

These New Model Army revolvers were manufactured from 1863-1875. They were the second most widely issued revolvers by the Union during the Civil War and continued to be issued in the Indian Wars. These revolvers generally saw hard use, especially among cavalry units, during these conflicts and are almost never found in the exceptional condition that this example exhibits. It has the standard three-line patent/address/model designation on the top flat of the barrel, government inspection marks, a "GP" cartouche on the grip, and "93157" on the bottom of the barrel, on the left side of the butt, and on the inside of both grip panels. There is a removable collection type marking "FB-290" on the butt in white paint.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 90% plus bright original blue finish with the balance showing some scattered speckling of brown, attractive aged patina on the brass trigger guard, and 95% plus vivid original case colors on the hammer. The grips are also excellent with some scattered extremely light handling marks and a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent. This is an excellent opportunity to add one of the finest Remington New Model Armys the writer has ever seen to your Civil War or percussion revolver collection!
