PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE, SOUTH AUDLEY STREET, LONDON” marking on the left side. Casehardened, bolstered sidelock action with beautifully executed classic English rose and scroll engraving, nitre blue and nickel pins, marked "J. PURDEY & SONS" on either side, and marked "J. PURDEY & SONS./LONDON/ENGLAND" on the underside. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered walnut beavertail forend with Anson button style release and engraved fittings and pistol grip stock with teardrop flats, horn grip cap, blank silver initial oval, and orange rubber recoil pad. Includes a second 32 inch vent rib barrel set with choke marked "FULL" and chambers proved at 2 3/4 inches with ejector. Also includes a leather bound takedown case which houses the whole set with "M.H.G." on the exterior lid and Purdey trade label and information card on the interior lid. Very fine as professionally refinished, retaining 90% blue finish with an area of cold blue on the left side of the barrel near the breech and a portion of the trigger guard turning a plum color. The case colors are vibrant and 98% remain on the action and lock plates. Minor handling evidence. The stock is very fine with minor handling marks and sharp checkering. The extra barrel is excellent. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent.
