Manufactured at the tail end of the Remington era production on a "00" frame. Blued steel barrels with dual white bead sights on the raised, matted vent rib, 2 7/8 inch marked chambers with ejectors, both chokes marked "FULL", and standard markings on the flats. The casehardened action bears the standard DHE Grade engraving incorporating floral scroll work surrounding game scenes and "PARKER" on the underside. The game scenes depict a setter in a field on the left, a brood of pheasants in tall grass on the underside, and a pointer in a field on the right. Single selective trigger and tang mounted automatic safety switch. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered walnut beavertail forearm with engraved fittings and Deeley latch release and a pistol grip stock with tear drop carved flats, Parker hard rubber grip cap, silver inscription oval marked "GTC/IV", and a replacement rubber recoil pad. No information on who the initials belong to has been provided. According to the chart on page 291 of "The Parker Story" by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote only 54 DH Grade guns were built in 28 gauge with 28 inch barrels made of Titanic Steel and chrome-moly steel combined. Of these guns, only some 3 percent had ventilated ribs and 3 percent had single triggers, making this gun a very rare find. A similar example is pictured on page 289 of the same book. Included with the gun is a suede and leather mutton leg takedown case. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameters measured 9 inches from the breech .553/.553 inches; choke constriction .008/.017 inches; minimum wall thickness .026/.025 inches; 1 5/8 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 1/16 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 6 oz.
Very fine, retaining 95% plus original blue finish on the barrels, 30% original case colors on the action with the balance a fine silver patina, and 80% original blue on the trigger guard. The barrels show some scattered light spotting and light handling evidence. The wood has a replacement recoil pad with spacers, otherwise the wood is very fine with minor marks and crisp checkering. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent.
