This a near new example of a late post war production M1 Garand rifle that was manufactured by Springfield Armory in 1955. The rear of the receiver has the standard four line, Springfield Armory markings over the serial number with the barrel marked "SA-3-55", with the breech end of the barrel still in the white. It is fitted with all the standard late production, Springfield Armory parts with the late production post war sight set. The barrel is fitted with a wide base gas cylinder, high top gas cylinder lock and late four-slot gas plug. It is currently fitted with a GI walnut stock and handguard set. The stock is marked on the left side with the standard "DOD" cartouche and a single encircled "P" proof in the pistol grip area. It is complete with a green canvas GI sling with a chamber brush/take down tool, plastic oiler and pull through in the buttstock trap compartment.
