Description:

This is a mid-production DWM Model 1906 American Eagle Commercial Luger pistol rig that includes a rare black leatherette cased set with accessories. These early black storage/carrying cases are even rarer than the Lugers themselves as most were separated from the pistols and later discarded. These American Eagle Lugers were made for export to the U.S. and have the distinctive large American eagle crest over the chamber area. These early DWM Lugers have excellent fit and finish with beautiful hand polish rust blue metal and straw colored smaller components. The model has short style frame and upper receiver with the extractor marked "LOADED" as intended for the American market with the first model, polished lower safety area. The underside of the barrel is marked with the early DWM barrel proof (shield with a partial line through it.) The front of the frame and underside of the barrel are marked with the full serial number with the last two digits stamped on the back sides of the various small parts. There are no commercial "crown N" proofmarks; however, the front of the frame is correctly stamped "GERMANY" indicating it was intended for export. Fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips, and complete with a total of three nickel plated magazines with the wooden bases, steel cleaning rod with the oiler on the end, two disassembly pin punches, an unmarked takedown tool, 50 round box of Winchester 7.65mm cartridges and reproduction Luger manual. This desirable Luger is complete with a very rare 7x13 inch original DWM storage/carrying case. The case has a durable hard black rough textured type exterior material, dark green felt lining, five compartments (for the Luger, cleaning rod/oiler, box of ammunition and disassembly equipment and two extra magazines), leather handle on the front and brass locks and hinges.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% original blue finish overall with wear and thinning on the edges and high spots. The grips are very good with nice distinct checkering with some light freshening on the center of the left grip. The various small parts retain 80% straw colors overall. The case is very good overall with the exterior showing light wear and scuffing overall with the corners and edges of the lid worn through. The inside of the case is very good with the felt a little dirty and showing some staining from where the Luger was sitting.
