Description:

The left side of the barrel has "V/P/tree" proofs and inspection marks and "WM GLAZE & CO." on the left flat. The upper tang has "SC." The "PALMETTO ARMORY/S*C" in a circle around a palmetto tree markings are stamped on the lock at the center, and the rear of the lock has "COLUMBIA/S.C. 1852." Only 6,000 Palmetto Model 1842s are believed to have been made for the State of South Carolina and many were no doubt used during the Civil War by the Confederacy.

Rating Definition:

Good with cleaned metal surfaces displaying silver-gray patina and mild pitting throughout, aged patina on the brass barrel bands, and mild overall wear. The reoiled stock is very good and has a few thin cracks, some dents and scrapes on the lower right ahead of the lock, and mild overall wear. Mechanically fine.
