Description:

An estimated 122,000 Remington New Model Army revolvers were manufactured from 1863 to 1875. Most of the Civil War era revolvers were manufactured under contract with the U.S. Ordnance Department. They were the second most widely issued revolvers by the Union and remained in use even after the war. This U.S. contract revolver has a U.S. inspector cartouche on the left grip, small inspection marks throughout, and standard markings and features, including matching serial numbers on the barrel and frame. Provenance: Firearms for Freedom Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 60% plus original blue finish with the balance mostly a smooth brown patina, an attractive antique patina on the brass, and most of the bright nitre blue on the trigger. The grips are also fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches throughout, and a well-defined cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
