Description:

Features a blade front sight, notch and folding ladder rear sight, "WHITWORTH*PATENT" stamped behind the rear sight, ".483" and ".450" on the barrel at the breech, British proofs and the serial number on the left at the breech, and "WESTLEY RICHARDS/PATENT" and a triangle on the breechblock, "1866" in a triangle on the tail of the lock and "WESTLEY RICHARDS & Co" ahead of the hammer, smooth stock with steel forend cap, full front barrel band, partial second barrel band, and buttplate with trapdoor to access the tool compartment (tools not included). Stock is stamped with serial number behind trigger guard tang and "56" behind rear sling loop. Provenance: Firearms for Freedom Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 40% original blue finish with thinning and a smooth brown patina on the balance. 75% original case colors remain on the lock. Wood is also fine with scattered dings and scratches overall. Mechanically fine.
