John Dickson & Son Enfield Two Band Percussion Volunteer Short Rifle

Manufactured by John Dickson & Sons of Edinburgh, Scotland. Fixed stud front and 1,100 yard ladder rear sight. Bayonet stud with guide slot for a saber bayonet, and five-groove rifling. The lock plate is marked “JNo DICKSON & SON/EDINBURGH”. Fine tuned high quality lock and trigger, typical of volunteer pattern rifles. Fine grade walnut stock with iron end cap and buttplate, and blued barrel bands.

ConditionFine, retaining 50% thinning original blue finish on the barrel mixed with brown patina, with some light muzzle wear and some small light dents around the breech area. Casehardened lock turned to a mottle brown patina with sharp markings. Stock is very good as lightly sanded with some scattered light dings and scratches, and attractive highly figured wood grains. Mechanically excellent
