Description:

Many of these Pattern 53 Enfield Rifle-Muskets were supplied to the Confederacy by the British during the Civil War. Blade/bayonet lug front sight and 1,000 yard folding ladder rear sight. The breech end of the blued barrel is marked with various proof marks. The lock plate is marked with a "crown/VR" behind the hammer and "1856/TOWER" ahead. Light border engraving on the lock and hammer with a small engraved section on the hammer. Brass trigger guard and butt plate. Smooth straight grip stock with brass tip. Behind the trigger guard marked with a small "crown/H/10". Left side of stock marked with a "star" and "2". Complete with a swollen head iron ramrod marked "5874".

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 80% original blue finish with some loss on the barrel bands, and some light handling marks. Lock turned to a mottled gray patina. Stock is also very fine, with some light wear, handling marks, and scattered dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
