Manufactured in circa 1890. With browned Damascus barrels each engraved with a band of stylized foliage at the breech end, and raised solid concave rib fitted with a bead front sight, signed “COX & MACPHERSON. SOUTHAMPTON” and with doll’s head extension engraved with a shell. Casehardened action with carved percussion fences and rebounding back action locks each signed “COX & MACPHERSON”. The barrels and action struck with Birmingham black powder proof marks. Figured 14 1/2 inch pistol grip stock including rubber recoil pad, checkered grip and forearm, and hard rubber pistol grip cap. Very good overall. The barrels retain nearly all of the rebrowned finish, good Damascus pattern, signature slightly flattened. Action and locks retaining 85% original casehardened finish fading to silver in places, engraving crisp. Stock with good figure and minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
