Manufactured in circa 1887. With browned Damascus barrels each engraved with a band of foliage at the breech end and respectively signed “HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98. NEW BOND STREET. LONDON” and “WINNERS OF ALL THE “FIELD” RIFLE TRIALS. LONDON. 1883”. Raised partially file cut matted flat rib with ramp mounted bead front sight and rear sight of one standing notch and two folding leaves graduated to “250” yards and each with platinum inlaid center line. Casehardened sideclipped action with carved percussion fences and blued toplever. Casehardened rebounding back action locks each signed “HOLLAND & HOLLAND”. Furniture including casehardened trigger plate and blued trigger guard. Best quality border and scroll engraving throughout. The underside of the barrels and water table with London black powder proof marks. Well figured 15 inch pistol grip stock including spacer and rubber recoil pad, with raised cheekpiece and checkered grip and forearm, the latter with Anson pushbutton release. In very fine original condition. The barrels retain 90% plus original browned finished with some age related fading, handling wear and rub at the muzzles, signatures and engraving crisp. The action and locks retains 90% plus original casehardened finish with crisp engraving. Trigger guard retaining 70% original blued finish, engraving crisp. Stock with well defined multipoint checkering and minor scattered storage and handling blemishes, stock reoiled. Rubber butt pad has hardened and is beginning to flake. Mechanically excellent.
