Manufactured in 1957 with the standard Winchester address, trademark, model, and caliber designation on the upper left of the barrel in front of the rear sight, the trademark repeated on the left of the receiver, and the serial number on the right of the receiver ring. Winchester factory oval proofs are offset on the left of the barrel and receiver at the breech and fitted with ramped hooded blade front and folding notch rear sights. The receiver is tapped and drilled for scope block mounting and embellished with flourishes of English style floral scroll engraving which continue onto the barrel just in front of the rear sight. The triggerguard and floorplate are embellished with the same floral scroll as well as the floorplate being presentation inscribed "R. L. Jordan" in gothic script letters. The included letter from George Madis states that he believes the rifle to be factory engraved and that he believes Jordan was a Winchester employee. He also states that further information on the identity of Jordan could not be obtained at the time of the letter. It is mounted with a nicely figured straight grain stock with multi-point checkering, contrasting forend tip, cheekpiece, sling swivels, and a checkered buttplate. This rifle is pictured on p. 263 of "The Winchester Handbook" by Madis.

Very fine, retains 95% custom, possibly factory blue finish with some light wear at the muzzle and on the bolt knob, and some scattered light handling marks. The wood is also very fine with some scattered light dings and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
