Description:

This is an exceptional example of an early 1942-production M1 Garand rifle that was manufactured by Springfield Armory that was shipped to England under the British Lend-Lease program. A number of these "Lend-Lease" M1 rifles were imported back into the U.S. in the 1950s. Most of these rifles were in un-issued condition. Standard blade front and "BATTLE RANGE" marked elevation knob on the rear sight. Early WWII gas cylinder housing with single slot gas plug. Barrel correctly marked "S-A-3-42" with British Birmingham proofs on the right side. Top of receiver ring has a small "crown/BNP" British proof. The operating rod is the correct unmodified WWII version marked "D35382-3-SA", and the bolt is marked "D28287-12SA/RE5B". The breech face is still in the white. Early oval face middle barrel band with the early milled, rear handguard clip with the single groove. Trigger housing marked "D28290-5-SA", hammer marked "C46008-2 SA", safety marked "C46015-6SA", and milled trigger guard. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a "S.A./G.H.S." cartouche and crossed cannons on the left side, circled serifed "P" on the underside of the wrist. Fitted with a nice Model 1907 brown leather sling.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 97% plus original parkerized finish with light handling marks and mild spotting. Stock is very fine with some light handling marks, scattered dents, and a small patch of filler on the right side below the operating rod. Mechanically excellent.
