This pistol is pictured on page 22 of the book "The P.38 Pistol, Volume 2" by Warren Buxton, as part of a discussion on the second variation "byf/43" code P.38 pistol. Fixed sights, with the slide marked "P.38" and "byf/43" on the left, "eagle" and "eagle/135" proofs on the right, and matching numbers on the slide, frame, barrel and locking block (though the locking block bears a Walther "eagle/359" proof, and may be renumbered. Fitted with a set of ribbed brown plastic grips and a full blue magazine marked "jvd" and "WaA706" on the spine.
Very fine, with 80% of the faded blue finish, showing some areas of gray patina, mild spotting, bright edge wear and mild handling marks. The grips are very good, with abrasive marks visible on the top left, some minor chipping around the edges and light scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
