This pistol is described on page 243 and pictured on page 242 of the book "The P.38 Pistol, Volume 3" by Warren Buxton, where it is noted as having been fit with a matching numbered "ac" code Walther barrel, and additionally supplied to the Austrian Bundesheer. Fixed sights, with the slide marked "P.38" and "byf/43" on the left, "eagle" and "eagle/135" proofs on the right, and matching numbers on the slide, frame, barrel and locking block. The barrel and trigger bar both bear Walther "eagle/359" proofs, with the barrel also marked "ac" on the underside, and the frame bears the "eagle BH" Bundesheer mark and the "IAC" import mark on the opposite side. The Interarms mark (with "GERMANY" as the nation of origin), when seen without Austrian proof house stamps, is associated with a limited number of pistols acquired directly from the Austrian government in the mid-1980s. Fitted with a set of ribbed brown plastic grips and a full blue magazine marked "P.38v/U" and "eagle/359".

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal refurbished, with 85% of the blue, showing areas of brown and gray patina concentrated on the front strap, covered pitting, bright edge wear and scattered handling marks. The grips are very good, with a crack in the top rear of the right panel and mild scuffing. Mechanically excellent.
