Manufactured in 1936, this is a very fine example of an early military contract, "S" date code, Krieghoff Luger. These pistols were part of the first approximately 10,000 Lugers manufactured by Krieghoff under contract for the German Luftwaffe, with this example being manufactured within the first 500. The toggle is marked with the "H (anchor) K/SUHL" type B-2 roll marking, found on approximately the first 2,500 pistols, and the "S" date code is on the chamber. The serial number "439" is on the front of the frame and the left of the chamber, and partial serial number "39" visible on various other parts. The right side of the chamber has the correct two "eagle/2" Luftwaffe acceptance proofs and an "eagle" proof, with "eagle/2" repeated on the right of the frame and bottom of the barrel, which also has the bore measurement. The "GESICHERT" safety marking is of the correct type A style. It is fitted with serrated blade front and notch rear sights, unnumbered correct pattern checkered walnut grips, and a nickeled magazine with aluminum base marked "5701" and with a Luftwaffe "eagle/2" acceptance proof.

Very fine, retains 80% plus of the original blue finish with the balance a smooth grey patina, primarily in the form of some light holster and cycling type wear. The straw colors are professionally restored with 85% remaining. The grips are also very fine with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
