Forerunner of the Type 14 Nambu that would be the standard Japanese sidearm of World War Two, the Type A Grandpa Nambu was produced in relatively limited quantities well before the Papa Nambu was introduced, with only around 2,400 manufactured by Koishikawa Arsenal (later named Tokyo Artillery Arsenal) between 1903-1906. Blade front and tangent rear sights, with the "stacked cannonball" mark on the chamber, 3-symbol nomenclature on the right side, and matching serial number "2102" on the frame, bolt, inside the checkered grips and on the back of the wood-based magazine. Includes a rare correct pattern detachable wood holster shoulder stock numbered "2151" (less than 50 numbers away from this pistol) with painted Japanese characters on the right side. Includes a modern felt lined wood case made to hold two pistols and the butt stock. Provenance: The Clive Cussler Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 85% arsenal refurbished blue finish with some light muzzle wear, edge wear, some light scratches, light freckling on the rear grip strap, and sharp markings. Grips are fine with some light wear and some light handling marks. Shoulder stock is fine, with some light handling marks, some light pitting on the metal fittings, and an absent release button. Mechanically fine with a weak firing pin spring.
