The Norwegian Kongsberg Model 1912 was designed as a copy of the U.S. Model 1911 to outfit their army. In nearly every respect, this is an exact copy of its American counterpart. This pistol is one example of the mere 95 total Model 1912 pistols produced. This example is dated "1917" on the right side of the slide and has "COLT AUT. PISTOL M/1912 No 81" as well as the monogram of King Haakon and the Kongsberg Crest on the left side. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, slide, trigger, hammer, safety, mainspring housing, grip safety, extractor, renumbered to match slide stop, barrel, barrel bushing, recoil spring plug, and recoil spring guide. The included factory letters state this pistol is referred to in the book "Kongsberg-Colten" on page 71. Also included is a collection plaque stating rarity and a Model 1912 manual. This pistol is pictured in the book "Kongsberg-Colten" by Karl Egil Hanevik on page 71.

Fine, retaining 60% original blue finish with cold blue touch-up visible on the grip straps and top right forward portion of slide (over pitting), thinning to brown on the remainder, some spots of pitting, and handling marks. Grips are very good with some worn spots in the checkering, dings and scratches, and traces pf the original black paint in protected areas. Mechanically excellent.
