Description:

The Norwegian Kongsberg Model 1914 was a modified copy of the U.S. Model 1911 pistol used by the Norwegian Army. These pistols are nearly identical to the Colt Model 1911, but the slide stop/slide release sweeps down and back towards the shooter. This design change was intended to allow the shooter to release the slide without adjusting their grip on the pistol. This Model 1914 is a pattern gun featuring a slide dated "1917" on the right side. The left side of the slide is marked with early Model 1914 caliber, model, and two digit serial number marking with the monogram of King Haakon and the Kongsberg Crest. Inspection marked below the date and behind the rear sight. Due to this being a pattern gun, its serial number falls within the range for the Model 1912. More specifically, this pistol is two serial numbers before the final 1912 produced. This pistol being a pattern gun also explains why some small parts are not stamped with the serial number. The included factory letters state this was a factory pattern gun from 1917 and that it was issued to Lieutenant-Colonel D. Lall on September 10, 1941. Lall was the head officer at the Kongsberg factory during the German occupation of Norway during World War II. Matching serial numbers found on slide, frame, trigger, mainspring housing, grip safety, ejector, magazine catch, firing pin stop, barrel, recoil spring guide and recoil spring plug. Includes two factory letters and a plaque reading stating what it is and that it was given to Lall.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 60% original blue finish thinning to brown on the balance and handling marks. Grips are very good with a spot of worn checkering on the left grip at the bottom, dings and scratches, and most of the black paint remaining. Mechanically excellent. A truly unique example of the Norwegian Model 1914.
