Manufactured in the 1960s as a sample of Class "B" engraving, this revolver is mentioned by serial number on page 365 of "The Book of Colt Engraving". Along with this gun, there were two others engraved (Class "A" and Class "C" respectively") by Alvin W. White and were featured on the back cover of the 1963 Colt Catalog. Initials "A.A.W." found on the right side of the front strap under the grips. White worked with Colt from 1961 to 1976. During this time, he would engrave Single Action Army revolvers for the likes of J. Edgar Hoover, Richard Nixon, and John F. Kennedy as well as appearing on the covers of nearly every major firearms magazine from the time. This revolver features floral scroll engraving on a punchdot background with wavy line borders on the barrel, frame, cylinder flats, rear of the cylinder, triggerguard, and back strap.
