Manufactured 1871-1881, this Sharps 1874 has been period modified to a Schuetzen configuration. This rifle features globe front and long range tang peep sights, double set triggers, and a plain Schnabel forend and pistol grip buttstock featuring a Swiss cheekpiece and buttplate. The replacement custom unmarked barrel lacks provision for a rear sight. The only marking on this rifle is the serial number ahead of the tang sight. Provenance: Firearms for Freedom Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good as period modified. Retaining 70% thinned blue finish and traces of case colors in protected areas with a mottled grey patina on the remainder. The lower tang screw for the buttstock is absent. The buttplate remains traces of the original silver finish with an attractive patina on the exposed brass. Wood is very good with dings and scratches along with a couple of large indentations visible on the underside of forearm with a horizontal separated crack visible at right tip and repaired small chip at upper tang of the buttstock. Mechanically fine.
