Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 Single Action Target Revolver with Factory Letter

The accompanying factory letter confirms the 6 1/2 inch barrel in .44 S&W Russian, adjustable rear target sight, blue finish and checkered walnut grips when shipped on April 4, 1904 and delivered to Rawling Sporting Goods Co., St. Louis. All New Model No. 3 frames were manufactured no later than 1898, thus they are Antiques by definition. Lyman pinned beaded blade front sight, barrel latch numbered to a different gun, and matching serial numbers on the butt and barrel. This revolver is from the collection of world famous American country singer and song writer Hank Williams Jr. and includes a certificate of authenticity confirming his ownership as well as the aforementioned factory letter, which is addressed to him. Provenance: The Hank Williams Jr.'s Collection

ConditionVery good. The barrel retains a few areas of blue finish with an artificial brown on the balance. The cylinder and frame retain 60% original blue finish with a smooth brown-gray patina on the balance and cleaned light pitting on the back strap and cylinder. 40% original case colors remain on the trigger guard and hammer. The grips are very fine with some minor handling marks (mostly towards the bottom) and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
