Description:

Manufactured in 1924, this is an attractive example of a pre-World War II commercial Colt Government Model pistol. The left side of the matching number slide has the two-line address/patent dates and the right side has the caliber marking followed by a Rampant Colt. The barrel is a post-World War II replacement marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on the chamber hood The left of the trigger guard is marked "1/VP" and the right is marked "51". The right side of the frame has the Government Model marking over the serial number. It has the "old model" features including the replacement long smooth trigger which has been milled down slightly and polished, replacement wide checkered hammer, non-dished frame sides, and flat smooth mainspring housing with a lanyard loop. Fitted with a pair of period replacement eagle carved grips and a two-tone magazine. Provenance: The Gus Cargile Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 90% plus of the original high polish blue finish with some light edge and cycling wear, primarily on the leading edges of the slide. The replacement trigger has been milled shorter and polished on the face. The grips are very good with some hairline age cracks and crisp carving. Mechanically excellent.
