Manufactured post-WWII and outfitted for high powered competitive rifle shooting, the Type Two National Match was introduced following rules changes that allowed greater fine-tuning and customization in competitive rifles. "NM/062" front sight and peep rear sight with "NM" staff, "595" swiveling peep, "NM/2A" wing, "NM NHS" windage and "NI- C" elevation drums. "NM" markings are present on the underside of the gas cylinder, left side of the barrel, and top of the operating rod, and the front and rear handguard sections have been properly epoxied together. Fitted with a Springfield "SA" bolt, "1 63" barrel, trigger housing, hammer and safety, and an "RA" operating rod. Glass bedding has been performed at the top and bottom of the receiver opening and along the sides of the magazine, with matching partial serial number applied in white paint to the left side of the trigger housing and the operating rod channel of the stock. The buttstock has circled "P" and "DoD eagle" stamps, with a green canvas sling and a steel buttplate. A U.F.H. bayonet with sheath is also included.
Excellent plus, as issued, with 99% plus original parkerized finish. The stock is also excellent plus. The bayonet shows some scuffing on the grip panels and mild wear overall. Mechanically excellent. One will not find a better example!
