Exceptional Documented U.S. Springfield M1 Garand Type 2 National Match Rifle with CMP Letter

Manufactured post-WWII, this rifle comes with a letter, data sheet and a copy of the Ordnance sales record. Per these docs, this rifle was sold out of inventory from the Erie Ordnance Depot of Ohio at an uncertain date (the sales record says "1339", the letter "December 5, 19?1"), with both the letter and data sheet identifying the rifle as National Match, and the latter further specifying the Type 2 configuration. Among other features, the data sheet calls out the Springfield glass bedding, unitized handguard, and "NM" components, along with a muzzle gauge reading of 1.0 and throat erosion of 3.5 (note: we do not have gauges to verify these numbers). "NM/062" blade front and "NM" rear sight with rotating peep, "NM" wings and NM drums. The barrel is "NM" marked on the left with Springfield "8 54 MD42" marked chamber. The internal components are "SA" production, with glass bedding around the receiver and matching numbers applied to the stock channel and magazine floorplate. The high gloss stock has the aforementioned unitized handguard, with the "DoD Eagle" on the left side, circled serifed "P" on the wrist, and a checkered steel buttplate. A CMP branded plastic hard case is included.

ConditionVery fine as arsenal upgraded, with 95% of the attractive parkerized finish, showing some light edge wear and handling marks overall. The varnished glass bedded stock is very fine and shows some light dings and scratches, with a very nice appearance overall. Mechanically excellent.
