Documented New Jersey Contract John Miles Flintlock Musket with Regimental Markings

Manufactured c. 1808-1809. John Miles New Jersey state contract muskets are described on pages 237-242 of George D. Moller's book "American Military Shoulder Arms, Volume II", with the lock of this exact musket photographed at the top of page 240 and the top of the barrel photographed on page 241. "67" over "BURLt C 3d REGt 2d B" marked on top of the barrel at the breech which identifies this musket as number 67 of the Second Battalion of the Third Regiment of the Burlington County Brigade. "MILES/PHILAD" marked at the tail of the lock. "GDM" (George D. Moller) collection initials marked at the toe of the stock. Includes wood tampion. Provenance: The George Moller Collection

ConditionGood, with dark brown patina on the barrel with scattered light to mild pitting, and the lock is bright as lightly cleaned with mostly clear markings and some scattered moderate pitting. Stock is very good with some light scratches, chips, and some small hairline cracks visible at the edges. Mechanically fine.
