This rifle is an example of a serviceman's target or Wehrmannsgewehr rifle, which were assembled from some World War I surplus parts, a newly made receiver, and some newly made parts between the World Wars. These rifles were popular among civilians and paramilitaries and circumvented the Treaty of Versailles due to their caliber. Blade front and Haenel marked elevation adjustable notch rear sights, with the receiver ring marked "ORIGINAL/HAENEL-LORENZ" over circled "H" logo. The left of the receiver has "crown/B" and "crown/U" proofs, and along with the buttplate is numbered "1270", with "270" on some other components.
