Description:

Approximately 5,802 Model 1847 Cavalry Musketoons were manufactured c. 1848-1859. These musketoons were used by the Army in conflicts with Native Americans in the 1850s and during the Civil War. This musketoon is of the standard pattern with the ramrod retention swivels. "1851" dated lock and barrel tang. Model 1847 cavalry musketoons are described on pages 223-232 of "American Military Shoulder Arms, Volume III" by George D. Moller, and his initials are marked at the toe. Rating Definition:

Good with bright surfaces, scattered patches of minor pitting, and sharp lock markings. Stock is also good with an overcoat of varnish, scattered scratches and dents, and some chips on the edge of the ramrod channel. Mechanically excellent.
